the Batter UP! box: Coach Pitch edition

We have turned a corner in the Stewart house. The kids have all hit ages where they do fun ‘big kid’ stuff and not hard, pack-my-life-in-a-bag to leave the house ‘baby’ stuff. All 3 boys are playing baseball, and Zander has moved up to Coach Pitch! He loves it, and we’re so excited to watch him play this season. Momma is on a steep baseball learning curve, but I’m confident these boys will keep me up to speed!

A good friend of mine recently told me about Batter UP! box… a baseball themed subscription box with a Coach Pitch option! I couldn’t wait to contact them and find out more!

What is the Batter UP! box?

Batterup - 10

Batter UP! box is a monthly subscription box full of baseball or softball themed training tools and accessories. The boxes are catered to your child’s age and skill level. You can choose from Tee Ball, Coach Pitch, Kid Pitch, Softball, Softball Elite, and Senior League. A month to month subscription is $29.99 per month with free shipping. You can save even more by pre-paying for 3-month or 6-month subscriptions.

What’s in the box?

Obviously, we chose the Coach Pitch option for Zander. First thing in his box was this note card with the Batter UP! Box Tip of the Month. It includes a batting drill and stance reminders.

Batterup - 4

Next, A TeenyMates MLB action figure. Zander has a couple of these already, so he was very excited to get a new one to add to his collection! I checked on Amazon and you can buy a 4 pack of this particular series of TeenyMates for about $10, making the retail value of this around $2.50.

Batterup - 8

And then the eye black. I tried to hold him off until he was actually playing baseball, but this little turkey snuck off to the bathroom and was looking game-ready headed to bed! Not mom’s favorite thing, but I had one happy boy… who returned to school the next morning looking like he’d been in a fight with Rocky Balboa. Retail value, according to Amazon, around $6. That cheesy grin, priceless.

Batterup - 5

I must admit, I had no idea what this thing was when he pulled it out of the box. After a quick explanation from Daddy, Zander had it slid onto his bat and was all over those batting drills included on the tip card. For those that also don’t know, it’s a bat weight valued around $10 on amazon.

Batterup - 2

I’m sure you can tell by his face that he was more than a little thrilled to see these Fathead Tradeables. He pestered me for a good two hours before I caved and let him stick them all over his bedroom wall. I’m certain he’ll be asking Santa for more! This pack included 5 – 5″x7″ peel and stick vinyl decals. The same one is for sale on amazon for $9.

Batterup - 3

Batterup - 7

And no baseball theme box would be complete without some Big League Chew! He had to fight off his brothers and sisters (and Daddy) to keep this for himself! These retail for $2-3/each depending on the quantity you purchase on Amazon.

Batterup - 6

If you’re keeping track, the retail value of the items in this box was around $30, which is exactly what this box costs (or less if you pre-pay for an extended subscription). And, not only is the box reasonably priced, there’s so much added value. For one, it’s packed full of items hand selected for a Coach Pitch baseball player like Zander. He loved everything, and I never would’ve been able to pick all of this stuff without help. Also, I’m not able to put a value on the tip card or the excellent customer service we’ve received working the Batter UP! box.

Go ahead and add this one to the list of perfect Christmas or birthday gifts for the baseball-lovin’ boy or girl in your life! I hope you’ll give it a try and come back and let me know how much they love it! Click here to head over to their website and get yours ordered today. Use code SWING5 to get $5 off your first box!

Special thanks to everyone at Batter UP! box for working with Pop Goes Perfection and providing us with a Coach Pitch box for Zander to try!

Jaylin’s 2nd Kidpik box!

Ever since I started getting Stitch Fix boxes (over a year ago!) Jaylin has begged for a box in her size. She’s 7. We finally found one! Kidpik is a subscription box for girls size 4-14. You can choose to order a one-time box, get one per season (4/year) or two per season (8/year). They send 5-7 items based on the profile you set up for your girl(s). Retail value of boxes is around $100, and they offer a 30% discount for keeping everything. Added bonus: If you don’t want to keep everything, but want the 30% discount… you can go ahead and pay the ‘keep all’ price, return the unwanted items, and Kidpik will donate them to charity! Can’t beat that!

Now here’s a question I get a lot: “What if you don’t like what comes in your box? Do you just lie in your review post?” This is a perfect example of how I handle those types of situations. Kidpik sent us a box a couple months ago. It was not great, included jeans, long sleeves, and sequins. Not at all what we needed (or wanted) headed into an Oklahoma summer. Jaylin and I were both disappointed. I emailed Kidpik and explained our frustration. They apologized and said they were working on a way to style boxes that were appropriate for different locations… and by the time this box came, I noticed if you fill out a profile, it now asks you to select your location! Looks like they’re following through with their promise, and our second box was a BIG success.

So basically, if I have a problem with something that’s sent to me, I try to reach out to the company before I just bash them here on the blog (or on social media). And it usually works out, as is the case with Kidpik. So enough rambling and on to what we got!

Kidpik - 1-3

Planet Tee – White $16.50

Also pictured are the Jacklin Metallic Buckle Sandals $22.50. Not pictured is the Rhinestone Wrap Bracelet $4.50. Kidpik also sent a small bag of iron-on patches. I’m hoping to find a backpack or bag or something to iron those onto before she starts begging to put them on her clothes. They also sent a pretty cool, big coloring page.

Kidpik - 1-4

Kidpik - 1-7

The total for everything we received was $97.50, and the keep all price (with the 30% discount) was $68.25! Of course Jaylin loved everything, and it all fit perfectly… so we’re both gonna give Daddy a few extra smooches tonight and hope he says yes!

Kidpik does not currently have an affiliate or referral program, but if you’d like to sign up here is a link to their website! Feel free to tell them we sent you!
